Day 6: Bwindi National Park
An early start sees us enter the dense Bwindi forest. Our trek through the forest is an unforgettable experience. At times the trekking can be demanding and the day long as we search for the elusive gorillas.
Experienced local guides lead us through thick jungle, tracking where the gorillas will have nested overnight. Gorillas are extremely sociable and interactive primates, groups normally numbering between 12 and 20 individuals. Most people’s impression upon their first sighting of a 300kg silverback is a mixture of incredulity and awe. At close quarters the gorilla seems almost human in its mannerisms.
This is quite possibly one of the most thrilling and evocative experiences that Africa has to offer, and certainly one that will remain an enduring memory from your travels.
